Bridgerton Season 4 Star Yerin Ha Reveals How the Iconic Staircase Scene Was Filmed

Bridgerton fans are still talking about one of the most talked-about moments from Season 4, and now actress Yerin Ha is opening up about how that scene came together behind the camera. The actress, who plays Sophie Beckett, shared fresh details about filming the emotional staircase moment with Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson.

The powerful scene appears near the end of Part 1 of Bridgerton Season 4, where Sophie and Benedict finally give in to their feelings after episodes filled with quiet tension. Instead of a ballroom or grand room, the moment happens on the servants’ staircase, a choice that carries deep meaning for the story.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Yerin Ha explained that the staircase was not picked by accident. She said the scene shows how Sophie lives between two worlds. One world is upstairs, where the wealthy Bridgerton family lives. The other is downstairs, where servants work. Meeting in the middle reflects how Sophie and Benedict are trying to cross social lines in a season inspired by a Cinderella-style story.

Season 4 is the first time the series fully explores class differences, showing how Sophie’s role as a maid makes her love story more complicated. According to Ha, the staircase moment quietly shows the risk and hope in their relationship without needing many words.

Ha also revealed that filming the scene went smoothly because of strong trust on set. She praised the show’s intimacy coordinator and said working with Luke Thompson felt natural and respectful. The actress admitted she was nervous at first, since they had to play lovers, but those worries quickly faded once filming began.

Interestingly, the staircase scene was filmed later than planned. Ha shared that she became ill during production, which forced the team to delay the shoot. In the end, she believes the delay worked out for the best.

Ha also pointed out that Bridgerton’s romantic scenes are always tied to the story. She explained they are not added just for shock or drama, but to help viewers understand the characters and their emotions, often shown through a female point of view.

Part 1 of Season 4 is now streaming on Netflix, while Part 2 is set to premiere on February 26, continuing Sophie and Benedict’s journey and the challenges that still stand in their way.
