Jenny Slate Opens Up About a Difficult Filming Experience on It Ends With Us

Jenny Slate has spoken honestly about her experience while filming the movie It Ends With Us, and her words have sparked strong reactions online. In newly unsealed legal documents connected to the ongoing dispute around the film, the actress described the shoot as “gross and disturbing” and shared why she felt uncomfortable working with director and co-star Justin Baldoni.

According to reports, Slate’s comments came from a deposition given in September 2025 in New York, which became public in January 2026. During this deposition, some of her private text messages were read aloud. In those messages, Slate explained that the atmosphere on set felt tense and upsetting, especially for her and fellow actress Blake Lively.

Slate said that while filming It Ends With Us, she felt deeply uneasy and disturbed by certain behaviors. In text messages sent to her former agent, she described the experience as emotionally exhausting and said that working with Baldoni and producer Jamey Heath made her feel uncomfortable. She also wrote that she believed Lively was facing even more serious stress during the production.

One major point Slate raised was that she asked not to be paired with Baldoni during promotional events for the movie. She made it clear that this request was important to her well-being. In her words, she did not want to help promote an image that she felt did not match her personal experience on set.

Slate also spoke about a specific comment Baldoni allegedly made to her during filming. She said he told her, “You look sexy in what you’re wearing,” a remark she felt was inappropriate in a professional workplace. She explained that the comment was not about her character, but about her personally, and it made her uncomfortable. At the time, she chose not to respond because Baldoni was in a position of authority, and she simply wanted to finish her work and leave.

The situation connects to a larger legal battle involving Blake Lively and Baldoni. Lively previously filed a complaint accusing Baldoni and his company of sexual harassment and retaliation. Baldoni denied the claims and filed a countersuit, which was later dismissed by a judge. Attorneys for Lively have said the unsealed documents show that concerns were raised early and were not properly investigated.

Slate has publicly supported Lively, calling the situation “dark and disturbing” and praising her courage. Her statements were also shared in interviews reported by major outlets such as Entertainment Weekly and PEOPLE.

While It Ends With Us was meant to be an emotional love story, Slate’s account shows that the behind-the-scenes reality was far more troubling for some involved. Her decision to speak openly highlights the importance of safe and respectful work environments in the film industry.
