Filming Wuthering Heights was a deeply personal experience for actors Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie, who brought the iconic characters of Heathcliff and Catherine to life. The Australian actors developed a strong connection during production, and both shared how their bond grew throughout the filming process.
In a recent interview with Fandango, the stars discussed their unique relationship off-screen. Margot opened up about how she tends to get “codependent” with the people she works with, always feeling devastated when a project ends. This was the case while working alongside Jacob, as she quickly grew fond of him.
“I love everyone so much, and I’m always that person who’s so devastated when a job’s over,” Margot admitted. She added that Jacob was always close by during filming, often sitting in a corner watching her play Catherine, just like how Heathcliff watches Catherine in the novel. Jacob humorously described their bond as a “mutual obsession,” explaining that if he had the chance to share a film set with Margot, he made sure to stay within 5 to 10 meters of her, observing the way she drank tea or ate food.
Emerald Fennell, the director of the film, joked that she had to ask Jacob to leave the set at times, but both actors laughed about the situation. Margot shared how, when Jacob wasn’t around, she would search for him, feeling “unmoored” without his presence. She described the feeling as “like a kid without their blanket.”
The powerful chemistry between Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie adds to the excitement for their upcoming release, Wuthering Heights, which will hit theaters on February 13, 2026. The emotional intensity between the two characters is set to leave a lasting impression on audiences.
