Jacob Elordi Says a Simple Shower Sent Him to the Hospital While Filming Wuthering Heights

Jacob Elordi faced a scary health moment while filming his new movie Wuthering Heights, and it happened in a very unexpected way. The actor recently shared that a regular shower during filming led to a second-degree burn and a sudden trip to the hospital.

During an interview with Esquire, Jacob Elordi, 28, explained how his daily routine changed between two major films — Wuthering Heights and Frankenstein. The actor said the difference in makeup and costume played a big role in what happened.

While filming Frankenstein, Elordi played the Creature and spent nearly 10 hours a day in heavy makeup. He said his hands and feet were always covered in makeup. Because of that, he admitted he was often too tired to clean everything off properly at the end of the day.

But things were very different on the set of Wuthering Heights, where Elordi plays Heathcliff. He shared that his body was often covered in dirt, grime, and rough textures to match the character. Wanting to feel fresh and ready for work, he decided to clean himself more carefully every night.

That decision led to trouble.

Elordi said that while washing his feet, he leaned back in the shower and accidentally pressed his back against a hot steam knob. The heat was intense and immediate. He said he jumped up screaming as the skin on his back burned badly. The injury was serious enough to be called a second-degree burn, and he had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.

The timing made the moment even stranger. Just before the accident, makeup artist Siân Miller had been planning fake scars for Elordi’s back for an upcoming scene. She joked that if Daniel Day-Lewis were playing Heathcliff, he would show up with real scars. Elordi later joked that he somehow took that challenge too seriously.

The film, directed by Emerald Fennell, stars Margot Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw. Despite the accident, filming continued, and the cast recently appeared together at the Los Angeles premiere on January 28.

Elordi spoke openly about the incident while promoting the film, reminding fans that even small choices on set can have big consequences. Wuthering Heights is one of the most talked-about films of the year, and this unexpected story from the set shows just how far actors sometimes go to bring famous characters to life.
