Kristin Cavallari recently shared a very personal moment that made her rethink how much she talks about her private life in public. The former reality TV star and podcast host opened up during an interview with People magazine, where she discussed her concerns after realizing her sons’ friends had heard her podcast, where she talked about adult topics like her dating life. She called this moment a “real eye-opener.”
The 39-year-old mom shares three children — Camden (13), Jaxon (11), and Saylor (10) — with her ex-husband Jay Cutler. Cavallari said she has always tried to balance being honest while also being a protective parent, but this moment made her pause.
“I go through phases where I watch what I say,” she explained. “But when my kids told me their friends had seen clips from my podcast, I really stopped and thought about it.”
The moment that concerned her most came from an episode of her podcast “Let’s Be Honest” with her then-boyfriend Mark Estes. During that episode, the two played a drinking game and talked openly about relationships and intimacy. At the time, Cavallari didn’t think much about it — until she learned middle school kids had seen it.
“That’s when it hit me,” she said. “It’s not just about what my kids think. It’s about how it affects them at school and with their friends.”
Cavallari admitted she doesn’t mind being open about her life, but she now understands that her children are getting older, and what she shares online can reach places she never expected.
She also spoke honestly about her past relationship with Estes, who is 13 years younger than her. Looking back, she described the relationship as fun at first, but said she ended it because it wasn’t right for the long term.
Despite the situation, Cavallari made it clear she is learning and growing. She said she still loves podcasting but will now be more careful with certain topics.
