Ali Larter is being honest about the toughest part of filming Paramount+’s hit series Landman — and it has nothing to do with long hours or heavy dialogue. The actress has revealed that her bikini and swimsuit scenes are the most uncomfortable moments for her while working on the show.
Previosly Landman Star Paulina Chávez also Opens Up About a Difficult Scene Filmed in Season 2. In an interview with PEOPLE, the 49-year-old actress admitted that filming these scenes is emotionally challenging, even though her character, Angela, appears confident and fearless on screen.
Larter plays Angela, the bold and glamorous wife of Tommy, portrayed by Billy Bob Thornton, in Landman. The role often requires her to wear tight outfits and swimsuits, which she says are “hard in a strange way” to film.
“I don’t think there’s an actress alive who gets excited about a bikini scene,” Larter shared during her conversation with PEOPLE. She clearly stated that these moments are her least favorite, even though she understands they are important to the story. As a professional actress, she says she commits to the role fully, despite her discomfort.
Larter explained that Angela is a very physical character who loves spray tans, blonde hair, and bold fashion, which means the actress has to put in extra effort to maintain her appearance. This includes staying fit and healthy, but also dealing with personal insecurities.
She revealed that before stepping into these scenes, she often has to mentally push through anxiety and self-doubt. According to Larter, even with years of experience, wearing a bathing suit in front of a camera and crew never gets easy.
Ahead of Season 2’s premiere in November, Larter previously spoke to PEOPLE about her strict fitness routine. She shared that she wakes up early, goes for short runs, does strength training, and focuses on eating clean meals packed with protein. Still, she admitted that no amount of preparation completely removes the vulnerability of such scenes.
Despite these challenges, Larter says she doesn’t allow insecurity to show when she’s playing Angela. She explained that the character has no room for self-doubt, and embracing that mindset helps her deliver a strong performance.
While the bikini scenes are difficult, Larter revealed that her favorite moments on Landman are much quieter. She especially enjoys emotional scenes between Angela and Tommy, where the focus is on honest conversation rather than appearance.
Landman Seasons 1 and 2 are currently streaming on Paramount+, and Larter’s candid comments are giving fans a deeper look at the real challenges behind her confident on-screen character.
