She said she cried after reading it because the situation shown in the scene is something many people fear in real life. Chávez shared that she has always been a very emotional and empathetic actor, which helps her connect to characters — but it also makes heavy scenes harder to perform.

Before filming, Paulina Chávez spoke with the show’s creator Taylor Sheridan, who reassured her that nothing would be filmed unless she felt safe and comfortable.
