North of North Starts Filming Season 2 as Popular Inuit Comedy Returns

Filming has officially begun on Season 2 of the popular Inuit comedy North of North, bringing cameras back to the Arctic for another chapter of the beloved show. The new season is now in production and will air later this year on APTN, CBC, and Netflix.

Anna Lambe returns in the lead role as Siaja, a strong and funny young Inuk mother trying to rebuild her life in the small Arctic town of Ice Cove. The new season continues Siaja’s journey after leaving her marriage and moving in with her mother while raising her daughter Bun. Her attempt to live independently leads to many emotional moments, everyday struggles, and lighthearted mistakes that drive the show’s humor.

Several familiar faces are also back for Season 2. The returning cast includes Maika Harper, Braeden Clarke, Jay Ryan, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Zorga Qaunaq, Bailey Poching, Nutaaq Doreen Simmonds, and Keira Cooper.

The series is known for showing real Inuit life, including language, traditions, and daily routines, all mixed naturally with comedy. Inuit phrases and cultural details are woven into each episode, helping viewers understand Arctic life in an honest and respectful way. Speaking about the show’s message, Anna Lambe previously shared in an interview with Up Here that Inuit families live lives similar to everyone else, just in colder places.

Season 1 premiered in Canada in January 2025 and later launched worldwide on Netflix in April 2025. The show earned major praise, including a 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It also won five awards at the 2025 Directors Guild of Canada Awards, including Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Comedy Series for Danis Goulet. The series has also received nominations at the Film Independent Spirit Awards and leads this year’s Writers Guild of Canada Screenwriting Awards comedy nominations.

Created by Red Marrow Media founders Stacey Aglok Macdonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril, the show is executive produced alongside Miranda de Pencier of Northwood Entertainment.

Season 2 is currently filming in Iqaluit, Nunavut, and Toronto, with new episodes expected to continue the show’s honest and joyful look at life north of the rest of the world.
