Sadie Sink has confirmed that X-Men filming is on her horizon — but when it comes to who exactly she’ll be sharing the screen with, she’s getting her information from roughly the same sources as everyone else.
Speaking with Vanity Fair following the premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Sink opened up about where things stand with Jake Schreier’s upcoming Marvel Studios X-Men reboot, in which she will play Jean Grey, according to Deadline. Her role as the powerful telekinetic and telepathic mutant was confirmed through her appearance in Brand New Day, making her the first of the new X-Men to be officially introduced in the MCU.

Being Kept Separate From Casting
The actress admitted that she is being kept “a little bit separate” from the casting process unfolding around her — meaning the decisions being made about who will play her future teammates are largely happening at a remove from where she sits. She said she is learning what’s being decided through director Schreier rather than through any direct involvement in the process.
When asked specifically about reports that Kit Connor — best known for Heartstopper — has been reading for the role of Cyclops/Scott Summers, Sink responded with characteristic caution. She acknowledged that rumors are constantly circulating but said she genuinely doesn’t know what has been officially confirmed versus what remains speculation at any given moment. Her exact framing — “Did he? There’s always the rumors, and I just never know what’s official” — suggests she is navigating a significant amount of online noise without always having the clarity to cut through it.
What She Does Know
Despite the information gap on specific casting, Sink was enthusiastic about the direction the project is taking overall. She described the overall cast that is coming together as one that she believes fans are going to be genuinely excited about once the full picture is revealed. She also praised the strategic thinking behind introducing Jean Grey through Spider-Man: Brand New Day as a clever way of seeding the X-Men into the broader MCU before the film arrives.
Deadline previously reported that Samara Weaving has been offered the role of Emma Frost in the film, adding further star power to what is shaping up to be a significant ensemble.
What’s Coming After X-Men
Sink also used the conversation to lay out what her schedule looks like beyond the Marvel project. After X-Men wraps, she is set to star in The Marriage Plot, a series from FX and A24. She acknowledged that with Stranger Things having concluded its run, her calendar has opened up in ways that feel both strange and exciting — the rhythm of returning to Atlanta for another season is no longer something she needs to plan around.
