Kaley Cuoco is opening up about a beauty mistake she made while filming her hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory — and she says it did not go as planned.
The 40-year-old Vanished Star, who became famous for playing Penny on the long-running CBS show, shared that her first experience with Botox left her face looking completely “frozen” during filming.
Speaking on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast with host Amanda Hirsch, Kaley Cuoco admitted the treatments happened in the middle of the show’s run. “It was deep into the show, like halfway maybe. I just wanted to do a little Botox,” she said during the interview.
At the time, The Big Bang Theory was already a huge success. The series aired from 2007 to 2019 and made Kaley Cuoco one of television’s biggest stars. Around Season 6, when she was about 26 years old, she decided to try the popular cosmetic treatment.
But the results surprised her.
Role Play star Cuoco explained that she had Botox injected into her forehead. Soon after, she realized she could not move her face properly while acting in an important scene.
“There is a scene where I have to really do this thing with my face and I could not move,” she said on the podcast. “I was literally doing these jokes and nothing moved.”
The actress shared that her forehead stayed still even when she tried to make expressions. She later said she could not believe “how bad it looked.” No one on set said anything to her, but she felt it was obvious on screen.
Botox works by relaxing muscles to reduce wrinkles. Most people want a natural look. However, Kaley Cuoco said her face looked stiff instead of smooth.
After that experience, she decided to be more careful. She told Hirsch that she still gets Botox, but she avoids her forehead now.
“I reined it in,” she said. “I don’t do my forehead.”
Today, she said she prefers small treatments near the outer corners of her eyes and sometimes on her neck. She shared that it helped smooth out lines that had always bothered her.
Kaley Cuoco also spoke openly about other cosmetic procedures. She confirmed she has had a nose job and breast implants, which she first talked about publicly in 2016. During the conversation, she said she is currently on her second set of implants and is happy with her decision.
Even though her first Botox experience did not go well, Cuoco made it clear she still supports it — just in moderation.
Her honest story gives fans a rare behind-the-scenes look at what was happening while she was filming one of TV’s most loved sitcoms, The Big Bang Theory.
