Red One is an upcoming American action–adventure Christmas film. The movie’s filming started in October 2022 in Atlanta and on 15 Feb 2023, Dwayne Johnson announced through his Instagram account the film’s wrap-up.
The film stars Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans in the lead roles and is directed by Jake Kasdan, with whom the actor has previously worked on Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level. “An absolute privilege to say that’s an official wrap of ‘Red One.’ What a ride and awakening experience this production has been, in many expected and unexpected ways, Empathy, kindness, and seeing the good in all people. Including oneself. We made a good one. More to come. Down the road…” he added
The official plot for the movie has not been officially out but according to Screenrant, the movie will be a family-friendly, action-filled adventure.
The film will be distributed by Amazon Studios and the release date of the film has not been out yet. Johnson regularly updates his fans with the filming of the film providing peaks behind the camera of Red One.

Despite the starry pairing confirmed by this filming wrap, the film struggled at the box office, earning under $150 million worldwide against a reported $250 million budget, and landed a soft 30% score on Rotten Tomatoes. No sequel has been greenlit, and Johnson has instead turned his attention to Jumanji 4, slated for a December 2026 release, suggesting Red One is unlikely to become an ongoing franchise for now.
