MGM+ Emperor of Ocean Park series is an adaptation of Stephen L. Carter’s novel of the same name.

The thriller series will have ten episodes from Shameless writer Sherman Payne, John Wells Productions, and Warner Bros. Television.

Damian Marcano is the director of the series’ multiple episodes.

Michael Wright, head of MGM+, said, “Emperor of Ocean Park is much more than a murder mystery; while it is an engrossing whodunit in its own right, it also explores important themes of middle- and upper-class Black identity, making it an outstanding addition to MGM+’s slate of engaging and thought-provoking original series.”

Starring Forest Whitaker (Judge Oliver Garland), along with Grantham Coleman, Tiffany Mack, and Paulina Lule.

Elmhurst on Thursday made the announcement that a TV series is filming downtown. It was later confirmed by the city spokeswoman that “Emperor of Ocean Park” is currently in production.

The filming took place at It’s Good To Be King game store at 129 W. First St on 14 and 15 March.

According to its official description, “Emperor of Ocean Park follows Talcott Garland (Grantham Coleman), an Ivy League law professor whose quiet life is quickly upended by the death of his father, Judge Oliver Garland, who seemingly died of a heart attack.”

“The nature of the judge’s death is questioned by Tal’s sister, Mariah (Tiffany Mack), a former journalist and inveterate conspiracy theorist, who believes that the judge, a failed Black nominee to the Supreme Court, met with foul play,” per the official description.”
