Darkness of Man Trailer: Van Damme Returns for Brutal Revenge

Last updated

Action movie legend Jean-Claude Van Damme returns to the genre in his latest film, “Darkness of Man.”

The first pictures from the movie show Van Damme fighting tough gangs in a dark and gritty thriller, similar to his recent successful movies like “JCVD.”

Darkness of Man trailer reveals Van Damme portrays a former Interpol operative turned father figure to Jayden, the son of an informant killed in a botched raid.

As Hatch, Van Damme showcases his unique skills while navigating the dangerous streets of Los Angeles.

Written and Directed by James Cullen Bressack

The film is written and directed by James Cullen Bressack, known for his work on “Fortress” with Bruce Willis and “Hot Seat” starring Mel Gibson.

“Darkness of Man” is described as a “passion project” for Van Damme and Bressack.

Star-Studded Cast

Joining Van Damme in the cast are Shannen Doherty (“Charmed”), Kristanna Loken (“Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines”), Spencer Breslin (“The Cat in the Hat”), Emerson Min (“Always Be My Maybe”), and Kirk “Sticky Fingaz” Jones (“Flight of the Phoenix”).

Van Damme Upcoming Projects

“Darkness of Man” is just one of several projects Van Damme is currently involved in. He will direct and star in the action-drama “Frenchy,” which has faced challenges but is now set for release.

Van Damme is also set to return to the “Kickboxer” franchise in “Kickboxer: Armageddon” alongside Scott Adkins and will portray a fictionalized version of himself in “What’s My Name?” where he battles opponents from his storied career while grappling with amnesia.

“Years later, Hatch finds himself protecting Jayden and his uncle from a group of merciless gangs in an all-out turf war, stopping at nothing to protect Jayden and fight anyone getting in his way — including supposed allies with hidden agendas and nefarious intents.”

Darkness of Man Update (2026)

Updated August 2026. “Darkness of Man” released on VOD in May 2024 and found a generally positive reception among action fans, with reviewers noting Jean-Claude Van Damme appeared in nearly every frame rather than ceding the spotlight to younger co-stars, unlike some of his contemporaries in recent years. The Interpol-operative thriller mixed gritty fight choreography with shootouts, continuing Van Damme’s recent run of direct-to-VOD action films. No sequel or follow-up project tied to “Darkness of Man” specifically has been announced as of 2026, though Van Damme has continued working steadily in the genre.
