“Passenger”: Andrew Buchan’s Debut Thriller Arrives on ITV

Last updated

The new ITV Thriller “Passenger” was created by Andrew Buchan, who is known for his works in All the Money in the World, Broadchurch, and Garrow’s Law.

The series is helmed by Nicole Charles and Lee Haven Jones, and the episodes are penned by the creator Andrew Buchan.

It’s about a small town where a girl named Katie Wells mysteriously disappears, but then reappears the next day unharmed, and hardly anyone notices.

The show has been compared to “Stranger Things”. Riya, an unknown person, tries to investigate, but the locals don’t want to help.

The series makers said, “As things become stranger, Riya fights hard to convince the villagers that all is not as it seems. But what are they so afraid of?”

“Riya is left confused… all is not as it seems, so can Riya get to the bottom of what’s actually going on?”

Wunmi Mosaku, David Threlfall, Rowan Robinson, Sean Gilder, and Nico Mirallegro are the main cast members of this drama series.

The makers of The Passenger chose the Todmorden town of West Yorkshire in England for shooting purposes.

As per Inews, the series came out on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at 9pm on ITV.

Passenger Update (2026)

Updated August 2026. ITV’s “Passenger,” Andrew Buchan’s debut screenwriting project starring Wunmi Mosaku and David Threlfall, wrapped its six-episode run without being renewed. Despite broadly positive reviews for the mystery-thriller set in a small Yorkshire town, ITV confirmed the series would not return for a second series, a decision Buchan has said left him disappointed. The show remains available to stream in full as a self-contained mystery, one of several UK crime dramas from the period that ended after a single acclaimed season rather than continuing into further installments.
