“The vegetation, the high mountains, the sea, and the stony beaches, give the island a feel of an ‘unknown and secret place’, which fitted perfectly to the story of the film. The support and hospitality from the local community was also a very big factor.” they added.

Chiliadou Beach Update (2026)
Updated July 2026. Chiliadou Beach’s Best European Filming Location win has aged well. The remote Evia beach — instantly recognizable as the castaway island in Ruben Östlund’s Palme d’Or winner Triangle of Sadness — remains one of the most-cited winners in the European Film Commissions Network’s annual location awards, alongside runners-up like Portsoy (Peaky Blinders) and Croatia’s Stari Grad. The recognition has continued to fuel location-scouting interest and tourism to Evia in the years since, with local tourism promotion leaning on the film connection alongside the island’s beaches and hiking trails. No major new productions at Chiliadou have been publicly announced, but the beach remains open to the public and a popular stop for travelers and location scouts alike.
