‘Tracker’ Season 4 Filming Moves to Los Angeles — Here’s How a $48M Tax Credit Made It Happen

CBS drama Tracker — one of the most-watched scripted series on American television right now — is making a big move. Starting with Season 4, the show will shift its filming base from Vancouver, Canada to Los Angeles, California. And a record-breaking state incentive is the main reason behind it.

A Historic $48 Million Tax Credit

The California Film Commission awarded Tracker a $48 million tax credit to relocate its production to L.A. — the largest relocation incentive the state has ever granted to any TV series in history. The credit was approved back in March 2026, though at the time the show was listed under the anonymous title “Untitled Disney Entertainment Television Project 13” in official state records. The series is produced by 20th Television, which falls under Disney Entertainment Television.

To understand just how big this deal is — the previous record was held by Prime Video’s Fallout, which received $42 million to move its third season production from New York to Los Angeles.

What the Production Looks Like

The tax credit is based on $129 million in qualified spending within California. Season 4 is projected to run for 176 filming days in the state, supporting 250 crew members and 275 actors, including the show’s recurring cast and its rotating lineup of guest stars. Production is scheduled to begin in summer 2026.

About the Show

Tracker is based on bestselling author Jeffrey Deaver’s novel The Never Game. Justin Hartley leads the series as Colter Shaw, a skilled survivalist who travels across America helping find missing persons in exchange for reward money — sometimes working alongside law enforcement, sometimes on his own. Fiona Rene and Chris Lee also star, with each episode featuring a fresh set of guest characters tied to Shaw’s latest case.

Elwood Reid serves as showrunner and executive produces alongside Hartley, Ken Olin, Connie Dolphin, Sharon Lee Watson, and Alex Katsnelson. Author Jeffrey Deaver is also on board as a producer.

Three Seasons in Vancouver, Now a New Chapter in L.A.

The show filmed all of its first three seasons in Vancouver. The move to Los Angeles marks one of the most significant production shifts in the series’ history — and a major victory for California’s ongoing push to bring big-budget television productions back to the state.
