The Wolf Man is Back: Blumhouse Begins Filming Horror Reboot

Leigh Whannell, director of the previous film, The Invisible Man, is back with the next Blumhouse film based on the Universal classic monster.

Filmmaker Jason Blum reveals a behind-the-scenes image of X as filming has finally begun on The Wolf Man, the most iconic movie monster hitting theaters later this year with a new reboot that Fresh hints at a reboot, and it looks like production is finally starting.

After a hiatus from work in 2020, director Leigh Whannell is back with a horror film titled The Wolf, produced by Universal and Blumhouse, and is beginning filming.

However, a smaller budget reboot of Universal’s classic monsters created a franchise in 2012’s The Mummy.

Other details, like the plot, have not been revealed yet, but the film will be based on a family being terrorized by the Wolf Man.

Actors Christopher Abbott and Julia Garner will play husband and wife in The Wolf Man, as the story sees the family threatened by some creatures.

The film will also reunite another iconic character from the Universal Monsters franchise, the same Invisible Man. The film stars Christopher Abbott in the lead role alongside Julia Garner.

The film is written by Whannell, Corbett Tuck, Lauren Shuker Blum, and co-writer includes Rebecca Angelo. Executive producers are Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner, and Whannell.

The film marks the second monster film and fourth directorial collaboration with Blumhouse Productions, following The Invisible Man, Upgrade and Insidious: Chapter 3.

The film stars renowned actors such as Christopher Abbott, who was nominated for a Golden Globe and previously starred in Girls, Poor Things, and Julia Garner, who won an Emmy.

It was initially reported that Barbie film star Ryan Gosling was set to play the lead role, with Blue Valentine filmmaker Derek Cianfrance initially directing and writing the film. However, in 2022, reports stated that both decided to exit the movie after two years of production.
