The Rookie’s Prague Shoot Had a Scare — One Cast Member Landed in the Hospital

Filming a TV show in another country sounds exciting, but it can also come with unexpected problems. That is exactly what happened while filming The Rookie Season 8 in Prague.

Actors Nathan Fillion and Jenna Dewan recently shared behind-the-scenes stories from the overseas shoot in an interview with People. While they described the experience as fun and unforgettable, they also revealed that one cast member had to be hospitalized during filming.

Season 8 of The Rookie begins with the team traveling to Europe for their first-ever international mission. Fillion’s character, John Nolan, and Dewan’s character, Bailey Nune, head to Prague to deal with dangerous criminals as part of a high-stakes operation. The story brings back Monica Stevens, a tricky defense lawyer played by Bridget Regan.

According to Nathan Fillion, Nolan feels very frustrated in the story because Monica has made a deal that protects her from punishment. Jenna Dewan added that Monica enjoys being untouchable, which makes the mission even harder. In the The Rookie Season 8’s first episode, Nolan and Bailey are forced to keep a close eye on her — and things quickly go wrong.

While filming, the cast enjoyed exploring Europe and spending time together. They walked across beautiful bridges, visited historic places, and enjoyed the city during their days off. But not everything went smoothly.

Fillion revealed that Bridget Regan became very sick while abroad. She suffered from food poisoning and had to spend some time in the hospital. Thankfully, she recovered, but it was a scary moment for the cast during an otherwise joyful trip.

Even with that setback, Fillion said the experience was special. He joked that the cast members who stayed back in Los Angeles were probably jealous after seeing photos of Prague’s stunning locations. He also praised the entire cast, calling them kind, supportive, and friendly.

Jenna Dewan shared that she made the most of the trip because she was traveling alone. She went on tours, enjoyed local food, and explored the city whenever she was free. She said filming in Prague felt like being inside an action movie, which made the whole experience even more exciting.

The Rookie Season 8 premieres on January 6 on ABC and will be available to stream the next day on Hulu. With international action, emotional moments, and real-life challenges behind the scenes, the new season promises to be bigger and more thrilling than ever.
