Fans of the hit Netflix legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer have a new update to look forward to. Reports say that Season 5 of the popular series has officially started filming, and the next chapter of Mickey Haller’s story could arrive sooner than many expected.
The series stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as defense lawyer Mickey Haller, a smart attorney who runs his legal business from the back seat of a Lincoln Town Car. The show has been a strong performer for Netflix since it first premiered in May 2022, and the platform has continued to expand the story with new seasons.
According to a report from What’s On Netflix, the upcoming Season 5 is currently being filmed and is expected to premiere sometime in early or mid-2027. This timing would match the release pattern of earlier seasons. For example, Season 4 debuted at the beginning of the year, while previous seasons were released during the summer months.
The filming update was also confirmed by the show’s executive producer and co-showrunner Ted Humphrey. In a recent social media post, Humphrey revealed that cameras are already rolling on the next season.
“We’ve just begun shooting Season 5 of The Lincoln Lawyer! And it’s going to fly by and land on Netflix before you know it,” Humphrey wrote while sharing the update.
The new season was officially renewed by Netflix in January, even before Season 4 premiered. This quick renewal showed how confident the streaming platform is in the success of the series.
Season 5 will adapt the novel “Resurrection Walk” by bestselling author Michael Connelly. In the story, Mickey Haller works to prove that a woman accused of murder is actually innocent. To solve the case, he teams up with his half-brother Harry Bosch, a famous detective from Connelly’s book universe.
However, there is a major challenge for the TV adaptation. The character Harry Bosch appears in another TV franchise on Prime Video, which means he may not be able to appear directly in The Lincoln Lawyer series. Because of this, the show may change parts of the storyline.
One possible change could involve Cobie Smulders, known for How I Met Your Mother, who has joined the cast as a new character in the upcoming season. Her role could help fill the gap left by Bosch in the original book story.
There is also curiosity about whether Neve Campbell will return as Maggie, Mickey’s ex-wife and a key character who supported him during Season 4.
As filming continues, more casting updates and story details are expected to be revealed in the coming months. For now, fans can stream all previous seasons of The Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix while waiting for the next chapter of the legal drama.
