The Housemaid 2 Is Officially on the Way, With Sydney Sweeney Returning

Good news for fans of The Housemaid. The movie’s sequel, titled The Housemaid’s Secret, is set to begin filming in 2026. As per The Wrap details, the announcement confirms that many of the key creators and stars are coming back, making the next chapter even more exciting.

According to Lionsgate, Sydney Sweeney will return for the sequel “The Housemaid 2” and will once again serve as an executive producer. The story is based on the popular book series by Freida McFadden, who is also closely involved with the new film. Fans who loved the first movie can expect the sequel to continue the intense and mysterious journey of the main character, Millie.

The Housemaid 2 will also reunite the creative team behind the first film. Director Paul Feig is expected to return to direct, while writer Rebecca Sonnenshine will once again handle the script. Producers from Lionsgate and Pretty Dangerous Pictures are also back, showing strong confidence in the franchise.

Another exciting update is that Michele Morrone is being considered to reprise his role from the first film. The original movie also starred Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar, and it performed very well at the box office.

In official statements, Paul Feig and Lionsgate executives shared how happy they are with the audience response. They said viewers around the world connected strongly with The Housemaid, both in theaters and on social media. Because the book series already continues Millie’s story, the filmmakers felt it was the perfect time to bring the next chapter to the big screen.

The first film, released in December 2025, has already earned over $133 million worldwide, proving that audiences are eager for more suspense, drama, and surprises. Lionsgate’s leadership explained that they believed in this story from the very beginning and are excited to keep building the world of The Housemaid.

While filming will begin in 2026, a release date for The Housemaid’s Secret has not yet been announced. Still, with Sydney Sweeney, Paul Feig, and the original creative team returning, fans can expect another thrilling and powerful movie experience.

For now, one thing is clear: The Housemaid franchise is far from over, and the next chapter is already taking shape.
