21-year-old Stavros Floros was spearfishing for the show when a tourist boat’s propellers struck him — production is now on indefinite pause.
Survivor Greece has been forced to shut down filming indefinitely following a horrifying on-set accident that left a contestant with life-altering injuries.
According to Toronto Sun reports, 21-year-old contestant Stavros Floros was actively filming a spearfishing segment off the coast of Saona Island in the Dominican Republic when he was struck by the propellers of a passing tourist boat. The accident caused a significant injury to his right ankle and resulted in a partial amputation of his left leg.
Production company AcunMedya confirmed the injury and announced it would be “investigating the causes of the incident in order to fully determine the circumstances.”
The show’s official Facebook page posted a statement — written in Greek — confirming that while Floros is no longer in immediate danger, medical teams are still considering an emergency air transfer to a U.S. medical center for further treatment.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the production. SKAI Television, the Greek broadcaster that airs Survivor Greece, has confirmed it will not air the show until further notice — effectively pulling the series off the air with no return date announced.
Survivor Greece is produced by AcunMedya, the same production company behind several international Survivor adaptations across Europe. The Greek version has aired on SKAI Television and built a loyal viewership over the years — making this sudden filming halt all the more jarring for fans.
As of now, no timeline for resuming production has been shared by either the network or the production company. All eyes remain on Floros’ recovery as the investigation into exactly how the accident occurred continues.
