Filming for Bravo’s hit reality show The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City has officially started again for Season 7, but Mary Cosby is not currently filming with the rest of the cast. Production was paused earlier after the heartbreaking death of Mary’s son, Robert Cosby Jr., who passed away at the age of 23.
The show’s production team had originally planned to begin filming the new RHOSLC season during the same week that Robert Cosby Jr. died on February 23, 2026. Because of the tragic news, filming was quickly stopped to give Mary Cosby and her family time to grieve. Now, production has resumed, but Mary has chosen not to take part in filming at this moment.
According to reports, the reality star is focusing on mourning the loss of her son and spending time with her family. During an interview report published by PEOPLE, the network confirmed that Mary Cosby is not currently filming scenes with her fellow cast members.
While Bravo has restarted filming for the new season, the network has not yet officially announced the full Season 7 cast lineup. In the previous season, the show featured Lisa Barlow, Heather Gay, Meredith Marks, Whitney Rose, Angie Katsanevas, and Bronwyn Newport alongside Mary Cosby.
Mary Cosby has been part of the franchise since the very beginning. She appeared as a main cast member in Season 1 and Season 2, then stepped away before returning in Season 4 as a “friend” of the cast. After that, she came back as a full-time housewife in Seasons 5 and 6.
The reality star shared the heartbreaking news of her son’s death in a message posted on Instagram. In the emotional post, Mary Cosby wrote that her “beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord.” She added that although the family is deeply heartbroken, they are finding comfort in their faith and the support from others.
Robert Cosby Jr. had openly spoken about his struggles with addiction and mental health during earlier seasons of the show. In a very emotional moment during Season 5, he talked about how he started using drugs as a teenager and how the addiction became more serious over time.
Following the tragic news, Bravo released a public statement sharing support for the reality star. The network said Mary Cosby is a “cherished member of the Bravo family” and offered condolences to her and her loved ones during this extremely difficult time.
For now, filming for The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 7 continues with the rest of the cast, while fans wait to see if Mary Cosby will return to the show later in the season.
