Filming big action shows can be exciting, but it can also be very tiring. Anna Sawai, who stars in the Apple TV+ series “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” recently shared that one intense day of filming left her so exhausted that she even had a bad dream afterward.
Shogun star spoke about her experience while discussing the show alongside her co-stars Kiersey Clemons and Joe Tippett. The trio opened up about what it was like working on the large-scale Monsterverse series, which features giant creatures like Godzilla and other powerful Titans.
The show follows people connected to the secret group Monarch, an organization that studies and tracks giant monsters across the world. In the series, Anna Sawai plays Cate Randa, a teacher dealing with trauma while searching for answers about her missing father and his connection to Monarch.
During a conversation with USA TODAY Entertainment, the actors talked about how demanding the filming process could be. Many scenes involve high-stress situations, emotional moments, and heavy action sequences, which can make long days on set very intense.
Sawai revealed that after one particularly difficult day of filming, the pressure stayed with her even after she went home.
She said she ended up having a bad dream, showing just how deeply the intense filming experience affected her. Long hours, emotional scenes, and physically demanding moments can sometimes follow actors off set, especially when they are deeply involved in their characters.
Even with the challenges, the cast said they try to keep the mood light whenever possible. According to the actors, joking around between takes helps them stay positive during difficult shoots.
