Japanese Thriller Remake “High and Low” adds Hunger Games star in Cast Update. High and Low is a new upcoming crime drama film whose directorial credit goes to Spike Lee and is scripted by Alan Fox, Evan Hunter, and Spike Lee.

The Equalizer 2 and Equalizer 3 star “Denzel Washington” is playing an unknown role in High and Low and apart from this, it is also heard that in the new cast update released for the film, a star from The Hunger Games has also been added.

The new Hunger Games cast addition to the film is none other than the actor “Jeffrey Wright.” Jeffrey Wright stars as Beetee in The Hunger Games film series, beginning with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, released in November 2013.

Jeffrey Wright has been cast in the Oscar-winner Spike Lee-directed remake of the Japanese thriller High and Low, co-starring Denzel Washington.

Like Denzel Washington, Jeffrey Wright’s role is still unclear. The film’s details are a rarity at the moment, but it is the adaptation of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 crime thriller which follows a kidnapping plot.

As per screenrant reports, The film High and Low will have a theatrical release via A24 prior to streaming on Apple TV+.

Highest 2 Lowest Update (2026)

Updated August 2026. The Spike Lee remake teased here was released under the title Highest 2 Lowest, a reinterpretation of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 classic High and Low. Denzel Washington stars as music mogul David King opposite Jeffrey Wright as chauffeur Paul Christopher, with A$AP Rocky and Ilfenesh Hadera rounding out the cast in a New York-set ransom thriller. The film opened theatrically August 15, 2025 — Lee’s fifth collaboration with Washington — before streaming on Apple TV+ starting September 5, 2025. Wright has spoken about how the film’s class-and-race dynamics resonate within the Black community, distinguishing it from a straight genre exercise.
