James Marsden Reveals He Felt a Big Void Without Hugh Jackman While Filming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

James Marsden is finally opening up about his experience on the set of “Avengers: Doomsday, and one thing is clear — someone important was missing.

The upcoming Marvel film is set to bring back several X-Men stars, making fans excited to see old faces again. Marsden, who plays Cyclops, is returning alongside big names like Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique.

But during filming, one key actor was not part of the confirmed cast — Hugh Jackman, known for playing Wolverine. While promoting his new movie, Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice,” Marsden spoke about the filming experience. In an interview with ComicBook, he shared his honest feelings about working without Jackman on set.

“I love Hugh Jackman, and I love the dynamic between Wolverine and Cyclops,” Marsden said during the conversation.

He explained that their characters always had a fun rivalry, almost like brothers who argue but still care about each other. This special bond has been a big part of the X-Men story for years. Because of that, filming “Avengers: Doomsday” without Jackman felt different.

“It did feel like a brotherly relationship… He was missed,” Marsden admitted carefully, while also trying not to reveal too much about the film.

Even though Hugh Jackman has not been officially announced as part of the movie, fans are still hopeful. The actor recently returned as Wolverine in “Deadpool & Wolverine” (2024), which made many believe he could appear again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marsden also shared how his return as Cyclops began. He said it all started with a simple conversation with the filmmakers.

“And in that conversation, we talked about what my involvement would be… I hadn’t actually read the script yet. So that was something like, yeah, sure, yes, of course,” he said.

The film is expected to release later this year, and excitement is growing as more cast members are revealed.

For now, Marsden’s comments have only made fans more curious. Will Wolverine join the team later? Or will Cyclops have to lead without him?

One thing is certain — “Avengers: Doomsday” is already creating buzz even before its release, and fans can’t wait to see what happens next on the big screen.
