Honey is a 2026 Cold War spy thriller series from the BBC, made by Sid Gentle Films, the company behind Killing Eve. It is created and written by Emma Moran, with Emme Hoy also writing. Toby MacDonald directs episodes one to three, and Michelle Savill directs episodes four to six.
The main cast includes Ann Skelly, Nate Mann, Jannis Niewöhner, Rory Kinnear and Sofia Oxenham. The series was filmed in Lithuania, where Vilnius stands in for 1980s East Berlin.
The story is set in East Berlin in 1982. Martha, a 24-year-old MI6 deep cover agent, tries to avoid Friedrich, the new Stasi head of counter-espionage. She also falls for a reckless CIA operative who goes by Kurt Fischer. The series mixes spycraft, a romance and dark comedy. It is also reported to be a prequel to Killing Eve, though we could not find an official confirmation.
Honey arrives on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Saturday, November 14, 2026. It has six episodes of about 45 minutes each.

IMDb lists the filming dates as January to March 2026, and Wikipedia gives the same window, with 57 days planned in Vilnius. One source differs. Location manager Jonas Špokas told The Location Guide that the whole shoot ran for roughly five months, from around October to March, including the Christmas break.
📍Vilnius, Lithuania
Vilnius is the main base for the series. According to the Vilnius Film Office, the shoot was run with the Lithuanian company Baltic Film Services. The crew was 145 people, and 130 of them were Lithuanian. Many interior scenes were shot in studios. Producer Christopher Hall says that Vilnius felt “too European” when it was once considered for the BBC series Archangel. This time the city worked for East Berlin.
Honey is one of many productions that have used the city. Our Europe page lists other shows and films shot across the continent.
📍Vilnius Palace of Culture, Entertainment and Sports, Vilnius

This Soviet-era building is the one named location that has been tied to specific scenes. The production used it as a large bridal shop. It also served as the secret police offices, the interrogation rooms and the corridors around them. Špokas describes it as a former cultural building linked with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and says it has been used on other productions too.
📍Cooperative Union Building (KOOP), Vilnius
In the same interview, Špokas calls the Cooperative Union building (KOOP) a good fit for Honey. It is Soviet modernist architecture from the 1970s and 1980s. He mentions a large staircase running up to the eighth floor and a lot of original wood, floors and lamps. We could not confirm which scenes were shot there.
📍Naujamiestis and Lazdynai, Vilnius
Naujamiestis and Lazdynai are two Vilnius districts that the Film Office names as shooting areas. Lazdynai is a residential district in western Vilnius. We could not confirm which streets or buildings were used in either district, so we are not naming any. Since these are lived-in neighbourhoods, it is best not to assume that any particular block was filmed.
📍Klaipėda, Lithuania
Klaipėda, on the Baltic coast, is described by producer Christopher Hall as “Little Germany”, and old Soviet buildings in Vilnius also made a good double for East Berlin. Špokas adds that Klaipėda has not been used much in films and is probably the most German-looking Lithuanian city. It gave the series a German feel that Vilnius could not. We could not confirm the exact streets or buildings.
📍Kaunas and Palanga, Lithuania
Kaunas and Palanga are both named as extra shooting cities, and The Location Guide interview also mentions Kaunas. We could not confirm any exact venue or scene in either place, so please treat them as reported only. Another BBC thriller worth a look is The Rapture, though it was shot elsewhere.
Honey Behind the Scenes
To make your search for Honey filming even more interesting, here is what the team has shared so far. When the series was announced, Emma Moran said she was excited by “the sexy madness of our version of Cold War East Berlin.”
We will add more cast and crew Instagram posts and set photos here as soon as they are shared.
Is There Any Trailer Available for Honey?
