A British crime drama television series Happy Valley’s third and final season is set to release on Monday, May 22 exclusively on Acorn TV, AMC+, and BBC America.
Happy Valley’s renewal of season three was announced on October 2021 and began filming in 2022. Happy Valley Season 3 will follow Catherine who discovers the remains of a gangland murder victim which leads her back to Tommy Lee Royce a murderer and rapist, played by James Norton.
The series creator Sally Wainwright had also given hints that season three will follow Sergeant Catherine Cawood as she discovers the remains of a gangland murder victim
Happy Valley 3 is written and created by Wainwright alongside Patrick Harkins and Fergus O’Brien and produced by Jessica Taylor and executive produced by Wainwright, Lancashire, Faith Penhale, Ben Irving, and Rebecca Ferguson.
The first season of the series began on 29 April 2014 on BBC One and the second season on 9 February 2016. The series has won the 2015 BAFTA Award for Best Drama Series and also Best Drama for the second series.

Update: Happy Valley Confirmed Season 3 Was Its Last (2023)
Updated July 2026. That release date held. Happy Valley’s six-episode third season aired weekly on BBC One from January 1 to February 5, 2023, closing out Sarah Lancashire’s Catherine Cawood story for good. Creator Sally Wainwright confirmed there would be no Season 4, explaining she’d always envisioned the show as a trilogy and wanted grandson Ryan old enough to make his own choices about his father. Executive producer Will Johnston echoed that the team felt the story was complete. The finale was widely praised as a fitting send-off for one of British TV’s most acclaimed crime dramas.
