All Hail, Downton Abbey! Carter Confirms Last Movie, Shares Filming Details

Downton Abbey actor and Wonka star Jim Carter recently shared the latest filming update on Downton Abbey 3. The English actor shared a filming detail confirming the final film.

Based on Julian Fellowes-Created British historical drama television series “Downton Abbey,” Two films from “Downton Abbey film Franchise” have been aired so far. Now a final and third film of Downton Abbey’s is yet to come.

All 3 films of Downton Abbey are based on the Downton Abbey series that ran from 2010 to 2015, which was widely appreciated by viewers, and the series was so popular that several films were made based on it.

The 1st film Downton Abbey was released in 2019, and the 2nd film Downton Abbey: A New Era was released in 2022 while the status of the third film has recently received a filming update, which means we can say that the third film is in production.

Actor Jim Carter, who plays Mr Carson in Downton Abbey’s films and Original series, has confirmed that the cast has started shooting the third film, “Downton Abbey 3”, which will end the ITV period drama once and for all.

Downton Abbey has now come to an end because franchise star Carter gave an update on the filming of the last film and told when he will start shooting the third and final film.

All the film actors are going to start filming the final film next month. However, there have been rumors for an upcoming Downton Abbey film for a while now and viewers are hoping that the Downton Abbey: A New Era sequel will pick up where the world ended in the late 1920s.

As per mirror.co Reports, Jim, said:

“We start filming in five weeks time. What can I tell you about the new Downton film? Very little really. I don’t want to give any spoilers but I think we can assuredly say it will be the last Downton film.”

“They are still tinkering with the script. All the favourite characters will be there with some new ones for a bit of fun. I can say, and I don’t think I am giving anything away, but we will be filming some of it in Harrogate, my home town.”

The thought of our dear Mr Carson saying that the show was going to the BBC, because the BBC has one of the better lineage of making period dramas, turned out to be wrong because this drama is coming to ITV.

Jim further said:-

“I have done 52 episodes and two films and the third one starts filming in five weeks. You heard it first here. I am not bored of talking about it. Downton Abbey is a phenomenon. I did not really enter into it with any great ambition or hope because it was done by ITV and ITV had no track record in doing period drama.”

“They didn’t at the time. Everybody thought it would be the BBC with the Forsyte Saga. Period drama was not ITV’s territory really. I thought we might be onto something when Maggie Smith said yes.”

Continuing his talk actor added:-

“It caught us all by surprise and it was a worldwide hit. I got recognised in the temples of Cambodia while on my bicycle in Lycra. When I got offered the part I thought I could do it as I believe I’m good mannered as Carson is. I knew the butler holds a special place in English film. I like the humour and the slow burning romance with Mrs Hughes.”

Other details related to Donton Abbey 3 have not been revealed yet, like the official Storyline and release date are still secret.
