Brian Austin Green Reveals How He Filmed an Early Version of Saved by the Bell Before It Became a Hit Show

Brian Austin Green is looking back at a surprising moment from his early acting career — when he filmed a show that later turned into the famous series Saved by the Bell.

The Beautiful Disaster star recently shared this story during a podcast appearance. In an interview with PEOPLE, he explained that before the hit show existed, it started as a different series called Good Morning, Miss Bliss.

Back in the late 1980s, Brian Austin Green was a young actor working on the pilot episode of this show. The series starred Hayley Mills as a middle school teacher. Green played one of her students, along with other young actors like Jonathan Brandis and Jaleel White.

At that time, the story focused mainly on the teacher, not the students. The kids were just part of her classroom. Green said the experience was exciting because it was his first time working with a live audience, and he enjoyed being on set with other young actors.

But things soon changed.

After filming the pilot, the makers decided to continue the show in a new way. They planned to move production to Florida and reshape the story. However, Brian Austin Green chose not to continue.

He shared that he was happy living in California and enjoying his normal teenage life. He also joked that he did not want to deal with filming near large bodies of water.

Because of this decision, he did not return when the show was reworked. The series later came back with a new format and became the popular show Saved by the Bell.

Green also spoke about how different the TV industry was during that time. He explained that actors would often work on many pilot episodes, but most of them never became full shows. Only a small number were picked up by networks.

Even though he did not continue with the series, all the young actors from that early project went on to find success. Brian Austin Green later starred in Beverly Hills, 90210, while Jaleel White became famous for playing Steve Urkel in Family Matters. Jonathan Brandis also built a strong career in films and TV before his tragic death in 2003.

This behind-the-scenes story shows how one small project can change into something much bigger — even if some actors choose a different path along the way.
