Netflix isn’t wasting a single second getting this one back into production. Fans of Dan Levy’s breakout comedy-thriller Big Mistakes have plenty to be excited about — because Season 2 is officially gearing up for production, and the cameras are set to roll much sooner than expected.
Following a swift renewal announcement at the 2026 Netflix Upfronts, new production listings reveal that filming for Season 2 is scheduled to run from August 2026 through November 2026. And just like the first season, the production will be returning to Jersey City, New Jersey as its primary filming base.

The Show That Earned Its Renewal Fast
For those who haven’t caught up yet, Big Mistakes centers on Nicky (Dan Levy) and his sister Morgan (Taylor Ortega) — two hilariously unprepared siblings who accidentally stumble into the criminal underworld while attempting a botched theft for their dying grandmother. What follows is a chaotic spiral of blackmail, dangerous assignments, and spectacular failure at every turn.
The show debuted on Netflix in mid-April 2026 and immediately landed on the Global Top 10 English TV list for two consecutive weeks, pulling in an impressive 31.6 million viewing hours — roughly 7.1 million views total. Netflix didn’t hesitate, greenlighting Season 2 almost immediately.
New Jersey Is Ready for Round Two
Season 1 was a massive production for New Jersey‘s local film industry — a 46-day shoot that brought together over 300 cast and crew members, worked with more than 500 local vendors, and filmed across 40+ locations throughout the state. It was also notably one of the more eco-conscious productions in recent memory, incorporating electric vehicles, clean technology, and renewable diesel to minimize its carbon footprint.
Season 2 is set to carry that same energy right back to the Garden State.
Who’s Behind the Camera?
Dan Levy returns as both writer and executive producer, with Rachel Sennott (Bottoms, Bodies Bodies Bodies) also on board as a writer and producer for the new season.
The producing team includes Anne-Marie McGintee, Dean Holland, Etan Frankel, and Timothy Greenberg, with Meredith Mills serving as Line Producer and Gayle Keller returning to handle casting duties.
When Can We Expect Season 2 to Drop?
With filming wrapping in November 2026, a realistic release window points to sometime in mid-to-late 2027 — which means Nicky, Morgan, and Laurie Metcalf’s beloved hardware store matriarch will be back on screens before you know it.
