Ben Stiller has taken his new Netflix production out of London and onto the picturesque Dorset coastline — and locals were quick to notice.
The actor was spotted on the beach near Highcliffe Castle in Dorset with film crews and production vehicles surrounding the area, according to BBC News. Signs warning the public about active drone filming were also placed along the cliffs, signaling a significant production footprint across both the beach and the castle grounds.
The filming is connected to A Matter of Time, Netflix’s upcoming fantasy romantic drama currently in production across the UK. The film, directed by Harry Bradbeer — best known for helming both Enola Holmes films as well as the acclaimed Fleabag — began its UK shoot in Clerkenwell, East London in late June, with the production now having expanded to the Dorset coastline for additional scenes.
Stiller stars alongside Nicholas Galitzine of Red, White & Royal Blue and Bella Maclean of Sex Education. The film follows the story of an unlikely angel sent from heaven to convince a reclusive man to give up his life for a greater purpose — only for the agreement to unexpectedly trigger a new passion for living and a romance that could alter the course of history entirely.
Highcliffe Castle — a striking Gothic Revival structure perched above the Dorset cliffs — provides exactly the kind of atmospheric, visually dramatic backdrop that suits a supernatural romantic story. The castle and its surrounding beach are among the most distinctive locations in the south of England, with their combination of heritage architecture and coastal scenery making them a natural draw for productions seeking something visually distinctive.
Netflix has not yet commented on the Dorset filming specifics. A release date for A Matter of Time has not been announced, with the film expected to follow a mid-to-late 2027 release timeline based on the current production schedule.
