‘Avatar 4’: Everything we know about

Avatar has been ranked number one in the list of All Time Worldwide Box Office and the film series has been renewed recently for Avatar: The Way of Water which was the second part of the film series and was released on December 16, 2022. Hereis the official trailer of the film.

Avatar 4‘: Everything we know about: Avatar 4 is an upcoming American epic science fiction film that will be co-written, co-edited, co-produced, and directed by James Cameron. Cameron confirmed that, with Avatar: The Way of Water being very profitable as expected, Avatar 4 and 5 will get made in January 2023.

It is already revealed that Avatar 3 is set to release on December 2024, and the film will feature Oona Chaplin as Varang. It is clear that it would be a “big time jump,” and the Avatar 4 film would continue on that, and the franchise will land somewhere incredibly between alien: Earth.

Filming for film sequels has begun simultaneously on September 25, 2017, in Manhattan Beach, California, but Cameron also revealed that the filming of the 4 and 5 parts of the film will begin after post-production wrapped on the first two sequels of the film.

Avatar 4 is scheduled to be released on December 18, 2026, which is two years after the release of Avatar 3 in December 2024 by 20th Century Studios.

Avatar 4 Update (2026): Where the Sequel Stands

Updated June 2026. With Avatar: Fire and Ash having stormed theaters in December 2025 and grossing roughly $1.49 billion worldwide, attention has turned to Avatar 4. Roughly a third of the fourth film has already been shot back-to-back with the third, and Disney still lists a December 21, 2029 release date — though producer Rae Sanchini called that date “tentative” in 2026. Director James Cameron has said he wants to make the next two films “in half the time for two-thirds of the cost,” so the story (which reportedly jumps forward in time) is still being locked.
