Love Island USA star Austin Shepard is speaking honestly about a difficult moment in his life that happened while he was filming the show “Beyond the Villa” in Los Angeles. The reality TV personality recently opened up about his opioid addiction relapse, his time in rehab, and how he is now working to rebuild his life.
During a conversation on TMZ’s “Previously On…” podcast, Austin explained that his struggle with addiction became serious while he was still involved in filming. In the interview, he shared that he had seen many friends lose their lives to addiction, and he feared the same path for himself. He said the reality of addiction is very harsh and can often end in death or a long life of suffering.
Speaking about that moment, Austin Shepard revealed that his relapse happened while production for “Beyond the Villa” was taking place in Los Angeles. According to him, the people working on the show did not know what he was going through at the time. He tried to continue working while secretly dealing with the addiction.
Austin admitted that he avoided filming whenever possible because his situation was getting worse. He described himself as a “functional addict” who could hide his struggles for a while, but eventually everything became too difficult to manage.
The situation became very serious when Austin checked into a detox center for help. On his first night there, he suffered a seizure and had to be rushed to the emergency room. The health scare became a turning point that pushed him to focus on recovery.
Now, 11 days into sobriety, Austin says he is feeling stronger and healthier. He has been spending time with his father, who has been supporting him during this difficult period. The reality star also shared that his family, Love Island castmates, and his girlfriend have played an important role in helping him stay positive.
Austin is now looking toward the future with a new goal. He said he hopes to help others who are struggling with addiction. One of his plans is to start a scholarship program that will support people who need help getting treatment but cannot afford it.
For Austin Shepard, the experience was painful but also life-changing. As he continues his recovery, the Love Island star hopes his story will encourage others to seek help and remind people that recovery is possible.
