What’s Filming in New York Today (Updated August 12, 2026)
New York remains one of the busiest production hubs in the country, and permit activity through the city’s film office has stayed near record highs this year. Here’s a look at what’s actually rolling in the five boroughs right now.
Severance – Season 3
Apple TV+’s Severance is back in production. The show, working under the title “Buffalo,” started shooting its third season in New York on July 27, 2026, with Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, John Turturro and Christopher Walken all returning.
Patricia Arquette confirmed the news to Parade, saying simply, “I can say they start shooting today.” Filming is scheduled to run through December 2, so expect Lumon-adjacent sightings around the city for months.
Myron Bolitar
Netflix’s new Harlan Coben adaptation began filming in New York in late July. Colin Woodell stars as sports agent Myron Bolitar, alongside KJ Apa, Diane Guerrero, Melissa Benoist and Bebe Neuwirth.
Crews were first spotted working Manhattan’s Upper East Side, according to The Hollywood Reporter, with the shoot expected to move to Astoria and then Hempstead, NY later this month.
Your Friends and Neighbors – Season 3
Jon Hamm’s Apple TV+ dramedy has been filming around New York and Connecticut since May, with Michelle Monaghan and Joshua Jackson joining the cast this season alongside Olivia Munn and Amanda Peet. Production is expected to wrap later this summer.
Also Worth Knowing
Two other major shoots just wrapped nearby: The Gilded Age finished its New York and Rhode Island filming for Season 4 on August 7, and Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 wrapped in July after shooting since March – so don’t be surprised if you still spot leftover set dressing around town.
HBO’s True Detective Season 5, set around Jamaica Bay under showrunner Issa López, is also expected to shoot in the city this year, with Nicolas Cage reportedly circling the lead role, according to TV Insider. Casting and an exact start date haven’t been confirmed publicly yet.
