Mark Wahlberg reveals about his displeasure while filming ‘The Departed’
Actor Mark Wahlberg, 52, has revealed why he wasn’t entirely thrilled with some aspects of filming the 2006 blockbuster The Departed, directed by Martin Scorsese.
On March 14, 2024, Mark joined Josh Horowitz‘s Happy Sad Confused Podcast and explained He was “a little pissed about a couple of things” while shooting the acclaimed Boston-set thriller “The Departed.”
As per People.com reports, the 52-year-old Academy Award nominee actor revealed in a podcast, before adding that Wahlberg “had another movie,” he said:-
“But look, it all worked out in the end. Originally, I was supposed to play another part. Originally, I was supposed to get paid,”
“I was going into Invincible after. I was trying to grow my hair out, which is why I had that weird hair.”
Arthur the King star Wahlberg further added:-
“… But I completely understand where Marty was coming from. He had to deal with Jack, he had to deal with Matt and Leo and Alex and everything, the studio and everybody else who was in the cast. And then I was supposed to be in and out in five weeks.”
“And so I went off to shoot Invincible, got my hair extensions, came back and they’re like, ‘Oh, you gotta take out the extensions.’ “
Wahlberg recalled the time during filming and said:-
“So we had a couple of issues,” “But, you know, ultimately, I think when I read that particular role, I was like, ‘OK, this is a good role. This is an opportunity for me to really go off and have some fun.’ “
Continuing his talk, he told Horowitz:-
“You want the movie to be recognized, you want to be recognized, it helps the ultimate success of the film, I think it enhances the box office quite a bit,”
“Especially if you have a movie coming out that time of year. But it’s not as high on the priority list as it used to be, let’s just say that.”
When Horowitz asked the actress whether she would prefer a film earning a billion dollars or winning an Oscar, the actor replied:-
“If I have a nice backend, I would rather take the money.”
“Look, I’m a competitive guy”
“I work really hard and I try to make the best movies possible. I always want to be the best. I approach it very much as an athlete, as a fighter, all those things. So I only want to win. I’m gonna be one of the few guys that’s not gonna lie to you right now.”
