Joe Manganiello opened for nude scenes during the shooting of the series True Blood.
In the fourth HBO series, which ran for seven seasons between 2008 and 2014, Manganiello’s character Alcidebe goes swimming in a lake with Eric. By that time, the two fight over Sookie, and as she watches, he is naked.
Last Monday on The Jennifer Hudson Show, they played a would-you-rather-style question game called “Deal or No Deal,” where they revealed several things about the series.
He began, “Let me tell you something.” He discussed how we didn’t shoot in Louisiana when I was on True Blood- warm Louisiana.”
Added, “We shot in Malibu [in] December, January for anybody who’s out there it’s below 20 degrees at night, and now on True Blood, we were naked.”
Manganiello recalled that the shot was taken around Valentine’s Day.
Also told TV Line, “It was Valentine’s Day, and there’s me and Skarsgård naked, screaming that we’re going to kill each other, with Anna in the middle and my wolf Thunder a few feet away.”
“There were many ‘Happy Valentine’s Day, Anna’ jokes going around.”
Manganiello revealed that he is comfortable being naked on screen, considering nudity to be “just a normal day at the office”.
Earlier this week, the actor was rumored to have split from his fiancée Audra Marie.
“[We did] nothing with clothes on! So they’re like, ‘Stop shivering, try to make it sexy!’ Like no man, I’m freezing,” he laughed. “So believe me … I wouldn’t take it. I was traumatized by it all.”
One of the popular shows is based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries novel series by Charlaine Harris.
Earlier in December 2020, some outlets reported that HBO had started work on a reboot.
Anna Paquin is one of the stars of this month’s release by LD ExtraTV. “I know nothing,” she admitted at the time. “None of us knew anything. It went online, and we were like, ‘Oh …'”
“It was some of the best years of my life. If any of us are involved in it, if it makes sense, it’s awesome,” she said. “If we’re not, blessings and have fun — it’s a fun world!”

Updated August 2026. Joe Manganiello, who played Alcide on True Blood from 2010 to 2014, has since built a broad career beyond the HBO vampire drama. He currently hosts NBC’s Deal or No Deal Island and has voice work lined up in Big City Greens. Manganiello has also been open about a serious autoimmune-related illness he battled, detailing the experience in his upcoming memoir, Bloodlines. He’s engaged to actress Caitlin O’Connor, and the couple relocated from Los Angeles to Pittsburgh in recent years.
