The ‘Gran Turismo’ Trailer Explained

An upcoming American biographical coming-of-age sports drama film ‘Gran Turismo’ directed by Neill Blomkamp has dropped its trailer.

The film is based on the highly anticipated video game series of the same name developed by Polyphony Digital and the story is inspired by the true story of a teenage Gran Turismo player aspiring to be a race car driver named Jann Mardenborough.

Jann Mardenborough is a British professional racing driver competing in the Japanese Super GT series. In the trailer, we can see the trailer is David Harbour played as Jack Salter who is Mardenborough’s trainer along with Orlando Bloom as Danny Moore, a motorsport marketing executive.

The logline of the film describes “the ultimate wish fulfillment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional race car driver.”

Filming of the film began in December 2022 in Hungary and wrapped up in the same month. Jacques Jouffret served as cinematographer for the film. Gran Turismo is set to be released by Sony Pictures Releasing on Aug. 11, 2023.
