The Gilded Age Season 4 Filming Begins Soon—Here’s Your Chance to Be in HBO’s Hit Show as Casting Opens

The popular historical drama The Gilded Age is getting ready to film its Season 4, and this time, local residents have a big chance to be part of the show.

Producers of the hit HBO series are now looking for background actors ahead of filming. The new season will be shot in parts of Troy, Albany, and Schenectady, continuing the show’s strong connection with the Capital Region.

According to a casting call shared on Backstage and reported by the Times Union, the production team is especially looking for Black actors aged 18 and older to appear as “event guests” in upcoming scenes. This is a great chance for people who have never acted before, as the casting team is open to newcomers.

Grant Wilfley, from Grant Wilfley Casting, shared in an interview that background work is a great way to start in the industry. He explained that it helps people understand how a real film set works and gives them a chance to watch experienced actors closely.

Filming for these scenes is expected to take place in June, with early shoot dates set for June 9 and 10 in Troy. However, local officials say the filming could continue throughout the summer.

To match the show’s 1880s setting, selected actors must be ready for period-style haircuts or facial hair changes. They should also be comfortable wearing wool costumes and working around special effects like smoke.

City officials are excited about the return of the series. Troy Mayor Carmella Mantello said there is a lot of excitement in the area. She also shared that the production brings strong support to local businesses like hotels and restaurants.

The show is known for turning modern streets into scenes from the past. During earlier seasons, the team created fake snowstorms, used horse-drawn carriages, and filled streets with actors in classic gowns and tuxedos.

Co-executive producer Holly Ramon said the team loves filming in Troy because of its historic buildings and welcoming community. The city’s old-style streets make it perfect for recreating 19th-century New York City.

Since its debut in 2022, The Gilded Age has become a favorite for fans who enjoy stories about wealth, society, and change in early America. All previous episodes are currently streaming, and now, Season 4 is ready to bring even more drama—this time with help from local talent.
