The filming of James Gunn’s film has started. It is being shot in Norway and stars David Kernswet as the Man of Steel.

Gunn told the Norwegian newspaper Svalbardposten (by VG), “We have filmed the first scenes, which are when Superman flees [the Fortress of Solitude].”

He continued: “We wanted a place that was beautiful and felt like being in the middle of the Arctic, so we looked at several places in the world. But there were many things that sold Svalbard for us over the other places.”

“First, there is the natural beauty. But also the fact that you’ll find a varied landscape here that you won’t find anywhere else. Nature gives a special feeling.”

It is a superhero film which is based on DC Comics. It is Produced by DC Studios and to be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

The film is scheduled to be released on July 11, 2025. The director Gunn also revealed the first look at Superman’s new suit on February 29.

He also earlier disclosed that they had named the film a Superman: Legacy. However, they later said that Superman: Legacy will now be named just Superman.

In this film, David Corenswet stars alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. The stars also include Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillion, and Anthony Carrigan.
