  1. The most interesting piece of Hebden Bridge’s history always seems conveniently left out these days.
It had deteriorated into a shambled ghost town, when it was sort of taken over by really decent squatter movements who revitalized the whole town in effect, which is WHY it attracts all the businesses and cultural stuff that now operates there. Due to it’s success, and that of Bishop’s Castle in Shropshire had been (And some similar towns and part-towns), rich people campaigned via the Tory party to stop people from revovating and organizing their lives and towns and occupying wasted spaces and buildings.
Yet, as soon as these special towns gained their hard-earned popularity, along came those same rich people to try to price everyone out.
Both Hebden Bridge and Bishop’s castle had great connections to the so-called ”Travellers Convoy” or ”Peace Convoy”. This helped conenct them with the right people with the right skills to get their towns vibrant, interesting, and re-imagined from the people up, and not from the money down.
