Patsy Kensit has shared a surprising behind-the-scenes story from filming the BBC series Pilgrimage: The Road to Holy Island. The actress revealed that she was quietly dealing with a serious injury during the entire shoot.
The show follows a group of celebrities as they travel together on a spiritual journey. Each person comes from a different faith or belief system. The goal is to explore history, faith, and personal growth.
While the journey looked peaceful on screen, things were not easy for Kensit behind the scenes.
According to the Mirror details reported in the original coverage, the actress had broken her shoulder in three places just months before filming began. Even with such a painful injury, she chose not to tell her co-stars.
Speaking about her experience, Kensit explained that she did not want to slow others down or complain. She wanted to keep up with the group and fully take part in the journey.
During a conversation about The One Show, she shared that she often fell over while filming, but still pushed herself to continue. She said she simply wanted to enjoy the experience and stay strong.
Her fellow cast member Jayne Middlemiss later admitted she had no idea about the injury during filming. This surprised many, as the group spent several days traveling together.
Despite the physical pain, Kensit described the filming experience as emotional and life-changing. She said the journey helped her look back at her past and understand her feelings better.
She also spoke about her Catholic upbringing, explaining that faith has always been part of her life. However, she now sees religion in her own personal way.
The actress added that the 12-day journey helped her deal with old emotions and anger. By the end of the trip, she felt more peaceful and clear about her past.
The show brings together several well-known faces, including Ashley Banjo, Hermione Norris, and Tasha Ghouri. Together, they walk historic paths and share personal stories.
Pilgrimage: The Road to Holy Island continues to attract viewers with its mix of real emotions, faith, and personal challenges. Kensit’s story has now added a deeper layer to the show, showing how strong and determined she was during filming.
The series airs on BBC One and is also available on iPlayer.
