Hollywood actor Luke Evans has been busy filming scenes for a brand-new ITV drama titled “The Party”, and cameras have been rolling across south Wales for several months. The upcoming five-episode thriller is based on the novel of the same name by Elizabeth Day and is being produced by World Productions.
The new series stars Luke Evans, a proud Welsh actor, in the role of journalist Martin Gilmour. According to the BBC, Filming has been spotted in many real locations, including Cardiff, Rhondda Cynon Taf, and nearby areas. Local residents have seen the cast and crew working in Roath Park, popular city bars, and historic buildings since October 2025.
According to The Party, the story moves between a tense birthday party and a police investigation that follows. The plot focuses on the complicated bond between Martin Gilmour and politician Ben Fitzmaurice, who first met as students at a private school. Over time, secrets, loyalty, and class differences begin to surface.
Ben Fitzmaurice is played by Tom Cullen, who was born in Aberystwyth and is well known for his role in Downton Abbey. The drama also stars Joanna Scanlon, Sarah Solemani, and Douglas Hodge, adding depth to the strong ensemble cast.
Speaking about the project, 5lbs of Pressure star Luke Evans said the story is a “gripping exploration of loyalty, class, and the truths we hide.” He added that he is excited for viewers to finally see it on screen. Along with acting, Evans is also serving as an executive producer on the series.
Author Elizabeth Day is also involved as an executive producer. She shared her excitement about the adaptation, saying she feels proud to see her characters brought to life in a new and powerful way. This is not the first time Evans and Day have worked together, as Evans previously appeared on her How To Fail podcast.
Between filming days, Evans has been seen enjoying some downtime at Barry Island in the Vale of Glamorgan, sharing moments from his visit on social media. While filming continues, Evans is also preparing for a big year ahead, including his Broadway debut in a revival of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, opening in March.
There is no confirmed release date yet for “The Party”, but it is expected to air on ITV and ITVX. For now, filming in Wales continues, and fans are eagerly waiting for official updates from ITV.
