Julie Tan's Good Goodbye Inspires Post-Breakup Growth

Famous Singaporean actress Julie Tan, also known as Julie Tan Shao Yin, recovered from her breakup by taking inspiration from her drama film ‘Good Goodbye,’ which was released this year.

Recently last month, the film ‘Good Goodbye’ starring Julie Tan was aired for which the actress had shaved her head, and she also be keeping this look for a while.

Julie Tan revealed that when she broke up last year, she was inspired by the filming ‘Good Goodbye’ to get out and go on a snowboarding trip.

Actually, Tan’s ex can’t snowboard, so when she was with her ex, she never planned to go on such a trip, but when she broke up with her ex, she decided to go on her first snowboarding trip.

The 31-year-old actress told Yahoo Southeast Asia in an interview for the film Good Goodbye, said:-

“I didn’t realize I was suppressing it. Like, I really wanted a trip around that but because he couldn’t, then I’d be like, ‘It’s okay,’”

The actress said that one way to get out of her comfort zone was to go on snowboarding trips. She went on a snowboarding trip with her friends, and she said, “I barely knew.”

Tan credits the film ‘Good Goodbye’ for her recovery from her breakup and her leap of faith because this film taught them to be more “daring.”

Julie further added:-

“That’s my first experience of going on holiday with new people. I think that that is me stepping out of my comfort zone and that whole experience was very rewarding.”

“I think from now onwards, I always want to be more open, and then to really go with the flow. Like you trust that there’s a path for you, there’s people you’re going to meet, and then just go with the flow.”

She continued:-

“A lot of times, we say we want to go with the flow, but a lot of times we’re just afraid to do so because to fully go with the flow, it means that you really [have to] trust in the unknown, the leap of faith. And to take the leap of faith is actually one of the scariest things to do.”

The actress said that she is now at a point in her life where she never wants to look back and regret the past life.

She said she has taken several chances in the past, including leaving Mediacorp – she felt that she “took a step back” after COVID. She also revealed that she felt insecure with her ex-boyfriend.

She also shared:-

“During my relationship, I was not like myself. I was hiding. Because I didn’t feel good about myself… [But] I came out of it. I think it was a journey that many people have experienced and will go through.”

For your information, let us tell you that in Good Goodbye film Julie has played the role of a social worker, who is romantic in her life and finds her love while battling cancer.

She actually shaved her head as a cancer survivor and said she felt like “Original Julie Tan.”

After shaving her head for the film, the actress said:-

“If I want long hair, I can get a wig. I can go for different looks some more, right? For now, I’m very comfortable being like this.”

The Good Goodbye film was released in Singapore on March 28, 2024.
