The movie is about creating Pop-Tarts, those tasty toaster pastries. The story takes place in Battle Creek, Michigan, in 1963.
That’s when two big cereal companies, Kellogg’s and Post, are trying to make a pastry that will become a big deal for breakfast.
The comedy movie stars including Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Hugh Grant, Amy Schumer, and many more. They’re all part of the fun in “Unfrosted.”
“Michigan, 1963. Kellogg’s and Post, sworn cereal rivals, race to create a pastry that will change the face of breakfast. A tale of ambition, betrayal, sugar, and menacing milkmen, Unfrosted stars Jerry Seinfeld in his directorial debut.”

Seinfeld has had this idea brewing for a while. In a 2018 post on X/Twitter, he shared his vision: “At one point I was thinking about an invention of the Pop Tart movie. Imagine the drunk-on-sugar-power Kellogg’s cereal culture of the mid-60s in Battle Creek, MI. That’s a vibe I could work with.” He also mentioned it on “The Late Show” in 2010.
Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story will be on Netflix on May 3. Watch the trailer below:
