Jeremy Clarkson has shared that he has been diagnosed with cancer, revealing the news on-camera during filming for the fifth series of his Amazon Prime Video show Clarkson’s Farm.
The 66-year-old presenter described the diagnosis as “aggressive” during a candid conversation with co-stars Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland, which took place while the trio were discussing harvesting on the farm. According to Female First, Clarkson explained that he had known about the diagnosis since May, following a routine medical check and a subsequent biopsy. He noted that while the cancer is aggressive, it was caught early, and he had hoped to complete the harvest before beginning treatment — though that timeline ultimately overlapped.
Cooper, visibly stunned by the news, offered his support on-camera, telling Clarkson to take care of himself and reach out if he needed anything.
Later in the episode, Clarkson reflected further on the diagnosis alongside his co-stars and girlfriend Lisa Hogan, noting that the year had begun with a coronary heart disease diagnosis and was now ending with a cancer diagnosis as well. Despite the difficult circumstances, he expressed a desire to focus on the positive moments from the year rather than dwelling solely on the setbacks.
The finale also includes footage of Clarkson in a hospital bed, where he revealed that some aspects of his treatment had “gone awry,” requiring an extended hospital stay. He addressed viewers directly, saying that if his treatment proves successful, he looks forward to returning for a sixth season — and if not, he wanted to thank fans regardless.
Ahead of the final two episodes releasing, Clarkson took to Instagram to prepare fans for the emotional weight of the content, describing the episodes as a significant departure from the show’s usual lighthearted tone and warning that they would be a genuinely difficult watch.
Clarkson had previously hinted that the new season would carry heavier themes than past installments, telling The Sun earlier this year that viewers expecting a purely lighthearted season were in for a surprise.
