Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence is speaking openly about how nervous she feels before starting a new movie and why she prefers filming awkward scenes with actors she does not know well. Her honest comments came during a public conversation at 92NY in New York while promoting her new film Die My Love.
During the talk, which was hosted by Josh Horowitz, Lawrence shared that she often feels anxiety before filming begins. Jennifer Lawrence explained that acting can sometimes feel embarrassing, especially when scenes are very personal. Because of this, she prefers to film the most uncomfortable scenes early, especially when working with someone new.
In Die My Love, Lawrence stars opposite Robert Pattinson. She revealed that on their very first day of filming, the two had to shoot a very intense and physical scene. Even though it sounds uncomfortable, Lawrence said it actually felt easier because they were strangers at the time.
She explained that when actors do not know each other well, there are no expectations or personal history, which can make difficult scenes simpler to perform. Lawrence compared this to her experience on The Hunger Games, where she had to film romantic scenes with her close friend Josh Hutcherson. She joked that doing those scenes with a friend felt more awkward.
Lawrence also spoke about how the director of Die My Love, Lynne Ramsay, helped prepare the actors. Before filming began, Lawrence and Pattinson took interpretive dance lessons together. She laughed while remembering how embarrassing those sessions were, saying that by the time filming started, nothing felt as awkward anymore.
The movie Die My Love tells the story of Grace, a writer and young mother who slowly struggles with her mental health after moving from New York to rural Montana. Pattinson plays Jackson, her partner, who becomes worried as her behavior changes. The film focuses on emotions, relationships, and inner struggles.
Jennifer Lawrence also shared that she has been open in other interviews about dealing with anxiety in real life, including postpartum anxiety after having her children. She said talking about these experiences is important and hopes it helps others feel less alone.
By speaking so honestly, Jennifer Lawrence once again shows why many fans admire her — not just for her acting, but for her bravery, honesty, and willingness to talk about uncomfortable truths.
