Jacob Elordi has finally told the full story of what filming Nate Jacobs’ death scene on Euphoria’s final season actually involved — and it is exactly as uncomfortable as it sounds, with the addition of one very unhelpful reptile.
The actor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he had an unexpected mini Euphoria reunion with co-star Colman Domingo, who was guest-hosting in Kimmel’s absence. When Domingo brought up the fan reaction to Nate’s death, the audience immediately responded with audible sympathy — which Elordi met with the kind of deadpan acknowledgment that only someone who had spent years reading hostile tweets about his character could deliver. He reminded the audience, with clear amusement, that those same people spent years publicly calling for exactly what they were now mourning, according to Deadline.

Six Weeks of Getting Beat
Elordi described his return for the final season of Euphoria as, in his own words, feeling like series creator Sam Levinson had brought him back specifically to put him through as much physical punishment as possible. Season 3 saw Nate subjected to repeated brutal physical assaults from a group of intimidating antagonists — a storyline Elordi described as involving approximately six weeks of being relentlessly beaten on set by someone considerably larger than him, with a significant amount of running involved throughout.
The Coffin. The Prosthetics. The Snake.
The death scene itself took the experience to another level entirely. Elordi revealed that filming the sequence required him to spend two full days locked inside a coffin, covered in prosthetics that obscured his eyes and included a fake tongue. Visibility was essentially zero. Then Levinson added a snake to the coffin.
The snake, Elordi clarified, was not exactly a committed performer. Rather than providing the threatening energy the scene required, the reptile turned out to be thoroughly docile — apparently under-stimulated by the lack of sunlight and content to curl up quietly at Elordi’s feet like a pet that had found a comfortable spot for a nap. Elordi described himself actively trying to encourage the snake to engage with the scene, with essentially no success.
He gave the snake credit for having what he called a “very nice personality” before acknowledging that this was not particularly useful from a horror filmmaking standpoint.
The Audience’s Reaction
The broader conversation captured something genuine about Nate’s complicated relationship with the Euphoria fanbase. Elordi noted that for years the character had been one of the most publicly disliked figures on the show — a lightning rod for audience frustration and a constant target on social media. The sympathy that greeted news of the character’s death, he suggested, was something he was going to enjoy for exactly as long as it lasted.

Set five years after Season 2, the new season follows Rue, Jules, Cassie, Nate, and Maddy as adults, with Zendaya back as Rue and new additions including Sharon Stone, Natasha Lyonne, Rosalía, and Danielle Deadwyler. The season also included one of Eric Dane’s final on-screen performances, following his death in February 2026.
