Although the story is set in Glacier National Park, the movie was not filmed there. To protect wildlife and ensure safety, the production team filmed the movie in Utah, mainly in areas outside Park City, where the landscape closely matched the rugged look of Montana’s wilderness.
Utah Wilderness (Outside Park City, Utah)

Most of Grizzly Night was filmed in the remote wilderness areas outside Park City, Utah. These locations were used to recreate dense forests, mountain trails, and isolated campsites seen in the movie. The natural terrain helped show the danger, fear, and isolation faced by the characters during the attacks. Filmmakers chose this area because it looks wild and untouched while still being safe and controlled for filming.
Mountain and Forest Areas of Utah

Several night scenes and survival moments were filmed in Utah’s forest and mountain regions. These locations added a dark and tense mood to the film. The quiet forests and wide open land helped make the story feel realistic and intense, especially during scenes showing fear, confusion, and human struggle against nature.
Glacier National Park, Montana
The movie is set in Glacier National Park, Montana, where the real-life events took place. However, no filming was done inside the actual park. The location is central to the story and is recreated on screen using Utah landscapes that closely resemble the park’s forests and mountains.

I just recently rented Grizzly Night and watched it. I was real surprised and grateful that this film followed the true story of what happened in August of 1967 in Glacier National Park. I had recently read the book Night of There grizzlies by Jack Olsen. I actually read the book when I was in high school and had a time finding it again. I thought this film was well done. I left a positive review about it on IMDB. I recommend it if you like true stories set in nature. I also recommend it if you like National Park or any park history.
