Glen Powell Says Filming Chad Powers Season 2 Left Him Sore Before the Golden Globes

Actor Glen Powell is back on the football field — and feeling it. While attending the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, Powell shared that filming Season 2 of his hit Hulu series Chad Powers has already taken a toll on his body.

Speaking during a red carpet interview at the Golden Globes, Powell admitted that he was “in a little bit of pain” after filming the day before the awards show. He explained that Season 2 requires a lot of real football action, and he had taken a few hard hits while shooting new scenes.

Powell plays Russ Holliday, a former football star who disguises himself to get a second chance at glory by joining a struggling college team. To make the show feel real, Powell does much of the football himself instead of relying on camera tricks. He said that the physical work is very real — and sometimes painful.

Despite the soreness, Powell sounded excited about what’s coming next. He teased that Season 2 is bigger and more intense than the first season. According to him, the show is “leveling up” in every way — from the football plays to the story and emotions.

Season 1 ended on a darker note, and Powell hinted that Season 2 will explore the chaos and pressure his character brings to the team. He described the new episodes as things “coming crashing down,” but in a way that will keep fans hooked.

Powell also reminded fans that the football in Chad Powers is not fake. In an earlier interview with People, he said the players he faces on screen are real athletes, including former professional football players. One moment that stood out to him was going head-to-head with a 6-foot-7, 350-pound player, which he called the biggest and fastest opponent he had ever faced.

The hard work paid off, as Powell received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a TV Series – Musical or Comedy for his role in Chad Powers. The show is inspired by a famous undercover football video featuring Eli Manning, who executive produces the series along with his brother Peyton Manning.

Powell said he loves being part of the show because it combines college football, friendship, and fun storytelling. Even with the bruises, he made it clear that he wouldn’t trade the experience for anything.

With filming underway and bigger challenges ahead, Chad Powers Season 2 promises more laughs, more football, and more action — even if it leaves its star walking a little sore.
