Glen Powell Is Taking Over Small-Town Georgia — And They’re Looking for YOU to Join Him

Hollywood’s hottest leading man has traded the big city lights for the charm of the Deep South, and Georgia locals might just get their shot at the silver screen.

Chad Powers star Glen Powell, the breakout star who’s been on everyone’s radar since Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You, has quietly set up camp in Chatham County, Georgia, where cameras are already rolling on his latest project — a film called “Comeback King.”

And the best part? The production is actively searching for everyday people to appear alongside him.

What We Know About “Comeback King”

Details about the film’s plot are being kept tightly under wraps, but what we do know is exciting enough on its own. The project is tied to legendary producer Judd Apatow — the creative mind behind hits like Knocked Up, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and Trainwreck — which immediately signals this will be something worth watching.

According to the wjcl.com, Powell was recently spotted on set in Thunderbolt, a small riverside community just outside Savannah, Georgia. Production is sprawling across multiple locations throughout the state, including Savannah, Macon, and Claxton — giving the film a distinctly Southern feel that’s hard to replicate anywhere else.

Want to Be in the Movie? Here’s How

The Savannah Regional Film Commission has announced several open casting calls through Catrett Casting & Associates (CL Casting), and opportunities are wide open for adults, children, and stand-ins through mid-June. Here’s a breakdown of what’s available:

Kids on Camera Two separate casting calls are open for children to appear at a charity event scene being filmed in Savannah. One call targets kids between ages 6 and 9, while another is open to those ages 9 to 17. Both are open to all ethnicities, with filming scheduled for April 20 and 21. Compensation is $120 for an eight-hour day.

Stand-In Roles The production is seeking two specific stand-ins for extended runs:

  • A Greek male stand-in standing between 5’5″ and 5’9″, with prior stand-in experience. This role runs from May 7 through June 17 across Savannah and Macon, paying $196 for a 12-hour day.
  • An Asian male stand-in of the same height range, also with prior experience. This role has scattered dates between April 14 and June 13 across Savannah and Macon, at the same daily rate of $196.

Bring Your Wheels Here’s a unique one — if you own a pickup truck, SUV, or car and don’t mind putting it on the big screen, casting directors want to hear from you. Open to anyone between ages 18 and 60+, this vehicle casting opportunity is scheduled for April 30 and May 1 in Claxton, with pay at $182 for 12 hours, plus an extra $35 vehicle bump.

How to Apply

All new applicants are required to complete both the role-specific application form and register in the Catrett Casting database — skipping either step could mean missing out. For questions, reach out directly to Catrett Casting & Associates at [email protected].

Georgia Is Back in the Spotlight

This production is the latest sign that Georgia’s film industry is hitting its stride again after a period of slowdown following the industry strikes of recent years. With its versatile landscapes, favorable tax incentives, and welcoming communities, the Peach State continues to be a magnet for major Hollywood productions.

For locals in the Savannah area, this is a rare chance to step in front of the camera alongside one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars — and walk away with a paycheck and one seriously impressive story to tell.

Keep an eye on the Savannah Regional Film Commission and Catrett Casting’s official channels for the most up-to-date casting information as new roles are added.
